wish I could have obtained just the plug

The parts website stated that this part was not compatible with my snow thrower. That didn't make sense to me because I had the specific part number from my owner's manual, so I used the on-line helper to confirm that the part was correct. After some checking, they assured me that the part was correct and that the website statement of incompatibility was not. I was skeptical but I went ahead and ordered it based on their assurances. (It turned out that the website information was incorrect and I understand that they were going to fix the error on the website after hearing from me). The part arrived as I expected. What I really needed was just the plug portion and not the whole starter assembly, but those are not sold separately, which meant that I had to buy the whole thing, which was rather expensive when the tax was added. There were no installation instructions, but the installation was pretty intuitive once the old part was removed. It helped that I had the parts schematic diagram from the owner's manual (available to download) which made it easier to figure out how to remove the old part and install the new one. The installation probably would have been a 20 minute job for a professional, but for me it took about 2 hours without any instructions. Part of the reason for the amount of time taken was that I decided that I needed to also change the oil in the snow thrower before I installed and tested the replacement part. The oil change has to be done when the gas tank is empty, and the replacement part could not be tested without gas in the tank, which meant that the oil had to be changed before I installed the new part. If you do not have to change the oil in your machine, you can expect less time will be needed to replace this part.

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

The part cost $200; a new snow blower costs $700.

I burned out the starter on my snow blower. Turns out it had a rock stuck in the blade and I had burned out the starter before I found the problem.
