Most common Thermador downdraft parts that need replacing

• Fan blower motor. The fan blower motor spins the blower wheel to exhaust air out of the kitchen.
• Fan selector switch. The fan selector switch is mounted on the control panel. The fan selector switch activates the blower fan motor at the selected speed.
• Gear motor. The gear motor raises and lowers the pop-up vent when you push the activation switch. Limit switches shut off the gear motor when the pop-up vent reaches its destination.
• Blower wheel. The blower wheel is fastened to the blower motor and rotates when fan motor is running. The blower wheel moves air from the area above the cooktop, through the exhaust air duct system and outside of the home.

What to check then the fan won't blow on your Thermador downdraft ventilation system

A failed fan control switch, wiring failure, bad blower fan motor or broken blower wheel can prevent the downdraft fan from blowing.

Unplug the downdraft vent and check the motor wire harness connections. Reconnect any loose wires and repair any damaged wires.

If the wires are okay, turn on the fan control switch and check for continuity through the fan control switch using a multimeter (with the downdraft vent still unplugged). Replace the fan control switch if you don't measure continuity through the control switch.

Replace the blower fan motor if the motor doesn't run when activated.

If the motor runs but the fan doesn't move air, check the blower wheel and replace if damaged.
