Arrived Quickly / Easy to Install

The deck came in less than 4 days. The estimate was 30 days so i was very happy. The deck was fairly easy to install. Would have been even faster if the nuts for the wheel axle were the appropriate size. Had to go to Lowe's to get 3/8" lock nuts rather than the 5/16's supplied. No big deal. The deck works great and will keep me going for another year or two....better than buying a completely new machine. Very happy with this purchase.

Easy because I knew what I was doing. There was NO instruction manual enclosed, because the cardboard box was cut open by the metal packing straps. Container was WAY too flimsy.

I was unaware that it was a complete new deck. A few minutes putting the small items on and it was ready.

Craftsman 46-inch universal mower deck assembly

Mounted and doing a good job of mowing, but only after alterations in the farm shop. Left side blade contacted deck and solution required a combination of reforming the deck and shortening the blade. It was not clear if the problem was due to production procedures (clamping and welding may have caused the lower edge of the shroud to be turned inward) or due to shipping damage (the container had minimal internal bracing and protection and was significantly damaged on both ends).

Mower Deck

Install was easy. When I started the first mowing I engadged the blade a loud metal to metal grinding and other loud noises. I imediatly shut the blade down. I removed the mulch cover and tryed to spin the first blade and it was hitting the outer frame. After further study I found out the out put side of deck had been dented pushed in so far the blade hit the side. Had to pound out the outer ring so blade would not hit outer edge of the deck. The deck was dented in through shipping.

The mower deck was shipped with the blades hitting the housing. The housing was misshapen during assembly at the factory.
