Replacing the fan blade in a Columbia space heater

  • Unplug the space heater to disconnect electrical power. Wear work gloves to protect your hands during the repair.
  • Remove the fan cover mounting screws and pull the fan cover off.
  • Disconnect the fan motor wiring harness.
  • Remove the fan mounting screws and pull the fan out.
  • Loose the fan blade set screw. Remove the fan blade from the motor shaft.
  • Install the new fan blade on the fan motor shaft and tighten the fan blade set screw.
  • Mount the fan in the fan housing. Connect the fan wire harness to the fan motor.
  • Reinstall the fan cover and plug the fan power cord back into the electrical outlet to restore power to the fan.

How to replace the temperature control thermostat on a Columbia space heater

  • Unplug the heater power cord or shut off the house circuit breaker for the heater to disconnect electrical power. Wear work gloves to protect your hands during the repair.
  • Remove the temperature control knob from the temperature control thermostat stem.
  • Remove the front grille cover from the heater.
  • Remove the temperature control thermostat mounting screws and pull the thermostat out slightly.
  • Disconnect the wires from the temperature control thermostat and pull the thermostat out.
  • Connect the wires to the new thermostat and mount the new thermostat in the heater.
  • Reassemble the space heater and restore electrical power by plugging in the power cord or resetting the house circuit breaker.
