How to replace the oven temperature sensor in your GE gas range
Shut off electrical power and the gas supply to the range.
Remove the oven racks.
Remove the screws from the base of the temperature sensor probe.
Carefully pull the oven temperature sensor probe forward into the oven interior. The wires connected to the probe have enough slack that you can pull it a just few inches. Holding the connector with needle-nose pliers, depress the locking tab on the plug and disconnect the plug from the sensor probe. Don't let the connector slip back through the hole, or you must remove the back panel of the oven to retrieve it.
While holding the connector with a pair of needle-nose pliers, snap it into the plug of the new probe. Push the wire into back wall of the oven. Position the new sensor probe and line up the holes for the mounting screws. Insert the mounting screws and tighten firmly using a nut driver.
Reinstall the oven racks and turn on the electricity and gas.
Cleaning grates and surface burners on your GE gas range
Cool burners and cooktop. Allow the burners and cooktop to cool before you start cleaning.
Soak grates and burner caps overnight. Fill your kitchen sink with about 2 gallons of water then add 3 tablespoons of grate cleaner to the water. Stir the water until the granules completely dissolve. This stuff is strong, so wear gloves and avoid getting it on your skin. If you do, rinse it off. Soak grates and burner caps overnight.
Clean softened residue. The next day, put on some rubber gloves and drain the sink. Using a scrub brush or abrasive pad, clean softened soil and residue from the grates and burner caps and rinse everything thoroughly. Wipe the grates clean with a towel.
Clean the burner heads. First, wipe the burner head with a damp cloth. Remove food and residue between the burner head slots using a toothbrush. To remove stubborn residue, use a paper clip or sewing needle. A small-gauge wire works also. Make sure that you clean the ignition port so the burner ignites properly. Wipe the burner head with a damp cloth after cleaning the slots and the ignition port.
Allow all burner heads to dry and then reassemble the range.
