Caring for video cassette tapes used in your Magnavox VHS player
- Don't expose video cassette tapes to direct sunlight or extreme heat sources.
- Avoid storing video cassette tapes in spaces where they'll be exposed to high humidity.
- Don't store video cassette tapes in areas where they'll get dusty. Use a cassette storage box to store tapes to prevent exposure to dust. For long term storage, seal the storage container to prevent dust exposure.
- After using a tape, rewind the tape to the beginning before storing. Store the tape in the vertical position.
- Don't leave a video cassette tape inside the VHS player when you're not intending to play the tape for an extended period of time (such as more than 1 week).
Replacing the control panel assembly on your Magnavox VHS player
- Unplug the VHS player's power cord from the electrical wall outlet to disconnect electrical power.
- Remove the cabinet cover mounting screws then pull the cabinet cover off the VHS player.
- Unplug the control panel ribbon cable from the control panel.
- Remove the control panel mounting screws and pull the control panel off the front cover of the VHS player.
- Install the new control panel in the front cover and secure it with the mounting screws. Plug in the control panel ribbon cable to the new control panel.
- Reinstall the VHS player cabinet cover and secure it with the mounting screws.
- Plug the VHS player's power cord back into the electrical wall outlet to restore power.
