How to sharpen the chain on your McCulloch electric chainsaw

  • Unplug the chainsaw to disconnect electrical power.
  • Check the chain for proper tension. Adjust the chain tension if necessary.
  • Position the sharpening file holder level at 90-degrees to it rests on the top edges of the cutter and depth gauge.
  • Align the 30-degree file hold marks parallel with the bar and to the center of the chain.
  • Sharpen the cutters on one side of the chain. File from the inside of each cutter to the outside edge.
  • Turn the chainsaw around the sharpen the cutters on the other side of the chain.

Common repair parts for McCulloch electric chainsaws

  • Oil pump drive worm wheel. The chainsaw oil pump drive worm wheel meshes with the drive worm to help lubricate the cutting chain with oil.
  • Sprocket and drive gear assembly. The chainsaw sprocket and drive gear assembly rotates to drive the chain around the drive bar.
  • Throttle trigger recoil spring. The chainsaw throttle trigger recoils spring returns the throttle trigger to the idle position when you release the trigger, and applies tension to the throttle lockout lever to prevent unintentional throttling.
  • Wire harness. The chainsaw wire harness connects electrical system wires in the chainsaw.
