JennAir electric cooktops typically last for years with no problems but you can never tell when parts will wear out or break on your cooktop. When your JennAir electric cooktop stops heating as it should, get the repair parts you need to fix the problem at Sears PartsDirect.

Replacing a radiant surface element in a JennAir electric cooktop

  • Shut off the house circuit breakers for the cooktop or unplug the cooktop to disconnect electrical power.
  • Remove the screws from the brackets that hold the cooktop in the counter. Carefully lift the cooktop up and set it on the counter.
  • Remove the screws that secure the glass top to the burner box. Lift the glass top off of the burner box and set it on a protected surface.
  • Carefully remove the wires from the element. Release the locking tabs on the mounting bracket for the radiant element and remove the bracket. Pull the radiant element off of the main glass top and discard the radiant element.
  • Position the new radiant element on the cooktop and secure it with the mounting bracket. Connect the wires to the new element.
  • Position the glass top on the burner box and secure it with the mounting screws.
  • Lower the cooktop into the counter. Reinstall the mounting bracket screws.
  • Turn on the electric power to the cooktop.

Common repair parts for JennAir electric cooktops

  • Surface element. The surface element provides the heat for cooking in an area of the cooktop.
  • Limiter switch. The limiter switch shuts off the radiant surface element when element temperature approaches a point where the ceramic glass cooktop can be damaged by overheating.
  • Burner switch. The burner switch turns on and off the element and controls how much heat the element produces.
  • Ceramic glass top. The ceramic glass top houses the radiant surface elements and provides a flat surface to hold cooking containers while you cook.
