Voltage supply problem

Check/Repair

Unplug the dryer and measure the voltage supply at the wall outlet using a multimeter. If the voltage isn't between 208 and 240 VAC, have an electrician repair the problem.

Possible parts
Ex21 or Ex22

Condensate drain pump failure

Check/Repair

Unplug the dryer and check the wire harness between the condensate drain pump and the main electronic control board. Reconnect any loose wires or replace the wire harness if damaged. If the wire harness connections are okay, check the pump and drain hose for a clog or restriction. If the drain path is clear, replace the condensate drain pump. If the problem continues, replace the main electronic control board.

Possible parts
Condensate drain pump, Main electronic control board, Wire harness
Ex31 or Ex32

Humidity sensor failure

Check/Repair

Possible parts
Drive motor, Main electronic control board, Wiring harness
Ex52

Drive motor thermal cut-out tripped

Check/Repair

The thermal cutout trips when the drive motor overheats. Overloading the dryer can cause the motor to overheat. Remove some of the load if too large or heavy. Allow the motor time to cool off and restart the dryer. If the dryer isn't overloaded, unplug the dryer and remove the load. Spin the drum by hand to check for drive system friction. If you detect excessive friction, check all drive components and replace any damaged parts.

Possible parts
Drive system components

Jammed drive motor

Check/Repair

Overloading can prevent the motor from running. Remove some of the load if too large or heavy. If the dryer isn't overloaded, unplug it and remove the load. Spin the drum by hand to check for drive system friction. If you detect excessive friction, check all drive components and replace any damaged parts.

Possible parts
Drive system components
E57 or E58

Inverter board is drawing excessive current

Check/Repair

The inverter board supplies run voltage to the drive motor. Unplug the dryer and check the wire harness connections between the inverter board and the drive motor. Reconnect any loose wires or replace the wire harness if damaged. If the wire connections are okay, replace the drive motor.

Possible parts
Drive motor, Wiring harness
E59

No drive motor tachometer signal

Check/Repair

The inverter board supplies run voltage to the drive motor. Unplug the dryer and check the wire harness connections between the inverter board and the drive motor. Reconnect any loose wires or replace the wire harness if damaged. If the wire connections are okay, replace the drive motor because the tachometer is a component of the drive motor and isn't available as a separate part.

Possible parts
Drive motor, Wiring harness
E5A

Overheated inverter board

Check/Repair

This error can be caused by continuous dryer operation in hot ambient conditions. Allow the dryer to cool and then try to restart the dryer. If the code appears under normal operation and conditions, unplug the dryer and replace the inverter board.

Possible parts
Inverter board
E5H

Motor voltage is too low (below 100 volts)

Check/Repair

Unplug the dryer and check the wire harness connections between the drive motor and inverter board. Reconnect any loose wires or replace the wire harness if damaged. If the wire connections are okay, replace the inverter board.

Possible parts
Inverter board, Wiring harness
E5C

Voltage supply is too high (above 240 volts)

Check/Repair

Unplug the dryer and check the voltage supply using a multimeter. Supply voltage shouldn't exceed 240 volts. Contact your electric company is supply voltage is too high. If supply voltage is okay, you'll usually need to replace the inverter board.

Possible parts
Inverter board
E5d or E5E

Communication error between the inverter board and the main electronic control board

Check/Repair

Unplug the dryer and check the wire harness connections between the main electronic control board and the inverter board. Reconnect any loose wires or replace the wire harness if damaged. A faulty line filter can also cause this error code. The line filter eliminates interference from the power supply. Check the wire harness connections between the line filter and the main electronic control board. If all wiring connections are okay, you may need to replace the line filter, main electronic control board or the inverter board.

Possible parts
Wiring harness, Line filter, Inverter board, Main electronic control board
E5F

Inverter board failed to start the drive motor

Check/Repair

Unplug the dryer and check the wire harness connections between main control board and the inverter board. Reconnect any loose wires and replace the wire harness if damaged. If the wire connections are okay, replace the inverter board. If the problem continues, replace the main electronic control board.

Possible parts
Wiring harness, Motor inverter board, Main electronic control board
