Thermistor (temperature sensor) is defective (electrically shorted)
Unplug the dryer and use a volt/ohm meter to test the resistance of the thermistor. If the resistance is more than 40,000 ohms, replace the thermistor. If the resistance is 10,000 ohms, replace the wire harness, if damaged. If the wire harness is okay, replace the electronic control board.
Thermistor is defective (electrically open)
Unplug the dryer and use a volt/ohm meter to check the resistance of the thermistor. The thermistor should measure around 10K ohms (10,000 ohms) of resistance at room temperature (77 degrees). If the resistance of the thermistor is higher than 40K ohms, replace it. If the resistance of the thermistor is normal, check the wire harness and replace the wire harness if damaged. If the wire harness is okay, replace the electronic control board.
Door is open
Unplug the dryer and check for loose or damaged wiring connections in the door switch circuit. Reconnect the wire harness if loose or disconnected. Replace the wire harness if damaged. Replace the door switch if damaged or defective.
Power supply frequency is out of range
Have an electrician or your electrical power supplier check the frequency of your electrical power supply. If the dryer is getting the 60 Hz power it requires, replace the electronic control board.
Door switch failure
If you're attempting to start the dryer with the door open, close the door. If the door is closed when the code appears, unplug the dryer and check the wire harness connections between the door switch and the electronic control board. Reconnect any loose wires or replace the wire harness if damaged. If the wire harness is okay, replace the door switch.
Heating error (gas dryer)
Make sure the gas supply cut-off valve for the dryer is fully open. Unplug the dryer and reconnect any loose wiring connections on the gas valve coils. Replace the wire harness if damaged. Have a service technician check the heating system.
Heating error (electric dryer)
See if a house circuit breaker for the dryer is tripped; the dryer won't heat if a leg of the 240-volt power supply is off. Unplug the dryer and check the wiring connections on the heating element. Reconnect any loose wires and replace the wire harness if damaged. Check the heating element for damage and replace the heating element if defective.
Stuck button on the control panel
Press all the buttons on the control panel to free the stuck button. If the stuck button cannot be freed, replace the user interface control.
Excessive dry time
Unplug the dryer and inspect the moisture sensor bar wiring connections. Reconnect any loose wires. Replace the wire harness if damaged. Replace the moisture sensor bar if damaged.
Control board failure
Unplug the dryer for 5 minutes to reset the control board. If the code returns after you restore power to the dryer, replace the electronic control board.
