Exact replacement
Did not take long to replace the new unit. Sure beats replacing a whole heater just for the unit itself failing. I hope to get another 12 years out of the water heater.

Party was great. Delivery, not so much.
The water heater burner was just as described. Was delivered with very complete DIY directions for install. The connecting lines were a little longer that the OEM parts, but it presented no problem during install. Delivery of 3 days ended up almost 6, 'due to winter storms', but part was in town for 3 of those days.

Overpriced Proprietary Ripoff
Had Southern California Gas company come over and install it for $32; would have been too difficult on my own (I do-it-myself all the time, too). Sears designs this so the consumer can be gouged when something as simple and basic as a thermo coupler fails. For other hot water heaters, this is a $9 part at Home Depot. Not with Sears. The consumer must purchase the entire assembly - by design. And it took a week to get here. My family and I had to survive for over a week with no hot water. Thanks, Sears! The upside is that these parts making up this assembly will likely last for the remainder of the water heater's life. I'll just be sure to keep a home warranty in effect so that when it does, it's covered - with no waiting for parts!

Cheaper than a new water heater
Pretty simple install. Just make sure you route the pilot line and thermocouple wire out of the way of the mounting bracket. Might take a few tries to get it lined up properly.

Wrong part!
Advised salesperson at the beginning to text me a picture of the part to assure it was correct. He sent the email of the wrong part after the order was processed and couldn't correct.

Easy to install
Installed in no time at all, found proper part number on line, ordered , received order in a few days. It took only 20-30 minutes to get hot water.
