Shear pin set 1501227MA contains 2 shear pins with keeper clips and 2 spacer bushings.
The shear pins connect the auger to the rotating drive shaft. The shear pins are made of soft metal that purposely shear off or break to protect the transmission and motor if a foreign object or hard-packed snow binds the auger.
To install, insert the shear pin through the spacer bushing, push the shear pin through the holes in the auger and drive shaft then engage the keeper on the shear pin tip.
Replaces original snowblower shear pin set part number 1501227.

Works great - gives peace of mind
Snapped a shear pin during the first real snowstorm of 2019 in Eastern Pa, 8 inches of fairly heavy wet snow. I had to drive in and out once and it was the compacted snow that broke the old pin. The new shear pins arrived in less than half the time listed. I ordered 3 sets for the piece of mind of having backups. Took less than 5 minutes to replace the broken shear pin. The hardest part was finding the hole through the inside shaft, had to use a flashlight to find it as I turned the auger. The old shear pin was like a bolt, part of it threaded, with a bolt on one end. The threads provided just enough friction in the hole that the piece didn't come out when the pin broke. That won't happen with these, first because it's a straight smooth shaft. The second is with the double wires attached to the head, it should separate cleanly. Would definitely recommend these to anyone who needs one. Nice to have a spare too.
