Pump motor replacement - one caution

The motor came with a gasket so I didn't need the one I ordered. Installation went well. Most of the time spent were things related to the original installation, clean up etc. The actual motor install was fairly quick.

Our Kenmore Elite Dishwasher is very old, 15-20+ years old. I could hear the pump grinding and momentarily coming to a complete stop. I figured if I tried to replace pump internal parts it would be brittle and difficult. I also could not find the pump alone. So I bought the pump and motor from SearsPartsDirect (cheapest price around) I could not believe how easy it was to get this pump out, you don't even need to take the dishwasher out. I almost didn't even look at the old pump internals because I figured it would be hard to disassemble. But I spent a few minutes doing so until it because difficult. I expected to see a broken impeller. But it was fine. It could have been bearings too. But it turned smooth. Turns out that inside the pump there is a small garbage disposal to grind food. Pieces of plastic fork was in there. I'm amazed these tiny pieces could stop the pump and make so much noise. But everything came apart easy and went together easy. Original pump is still fine. Printed out a return label to ship back (very cheap and easy). I would definitely buy from these folks again even though I didn't end up using it.
