Was thrown in the box and the box was thrown out

I ordered three things, thinking I needed three parts, so this Chute Hinge Rod was one of the parts ordered. However, the rod apparently was just tossed into the box during packing and when I received, didn't remove the rod and realized we had thrown out the box (and thus, the rod). Turns out, I didn't need to order this Hinge Rod as the chute had the spring and rod included already.
