The MTD Line Trimmer Drive Shaft Coupler (part number 753-1190) connects the upper and lower drive shafts to transfer power from the engine to the cutting head. It replaces part numbers 753-08212, 791-160511, and 791-181616B.
If your trimmer loses power at the cutting head, cuts unevenly, or stops trimming altogether, the drive shaft coupler may be worn or damaged. Replacing the coupler can restore full power transmission and improve trimming performance.
Before installing the drive shaft coupler, turn off the trimmer and disconnect the spark plug wire or battery to prevent accidental starting. Wear work gloves to protect your hands. Use a screwdriver to remove the old coupler and install the new one, ensuring all connections are secure and properly aligned. Refer to the service manual for your model if you need help with installation.
