Exact replacement
I had been having problems with my GE Profile dryer for months. It would stop turning, but the blower would continue to operate. My dryer is one of those models with separate motors for the drum and the blower. Previously I had replaced all of the drum bearings (plastic strips) hoping the reduced friction would solve the problem. It helped, but the drum would still stop turning. So I went online to find a replacement motor. Sears PartsDirect was the least expensive and had the fastest delivery. Don't let the idea of replacing the motor scare you away. It only took me about 30 minutes to disassemble the dryer, replace the motor, and reassemble everything. Disconnect the two electrical connectors. The motor is held in place with two spring clips - one on the front and one on the back. Use a pair of pliers to remove the clips. The motor lifts right off. Putting the belt back on the motor pulley assembly is a bit of a challenge since you cant see what you're doing. You might consider wearing a long sleeve shirt to keep from scratching up your arm.
