Pre-filter 793685 is a foam filter that attaches around the outside of the primary air filter for the engine.

Let the engine cool and disconnect the spark plug wires before installing this part. Wear work gloves to protect your hands.

If you can get your old pre-filter off with out it tearing, this item can be washed and not need a new one to replace

Gee, didn't need to install it after the repairman was here. Turns out we need a new mower. Our 4 year old Craftsman blew a gasket! For about $500 we can get the needed parts but not the cost of installation. We just spent $55 on a new battery about 4 months ago. No more Craftsman for us!

The pre filter fits over the cylindrical filter. They are a set. I installed the pre filter onto the filter and then the air filter onto the riding mower. My mower started quickly and runs great. I guess the whole process was less than five minutes. I was amazed what a difference a clean filter set made for my riding mower.
