Part Information
This magnetron (part number WB27X10017) is for microwaves.
Magnetron WB27X10017 produces the microwaves that cook the food inside the microwave oven.
Because high-voltage capacitors in a microwave can retain a lethal electrical charge even when the microwave is unplugged, a service technician should install this part.

Installation
Depending on a persons knowledge of mechanics, I have a good basic knowledge of how mechanis work. Once I determined how to remove the magnetron I just had to reassemble it in reverse. Make notes and take pics with your phone as you disassemble. For me, it was more difficult to diagnose the problem than to install the part. OH! and when working on a microwave be sure to discharge your capacitor it can hurt if you happen to short it across your hand or finger.

GE Profile Microwave not heating, faulty magnetron
GE Profile Spacesaver microwave would not heat and produced electrical odor. I replaced the capacitor and diode initially (easy to install) which eliminated the odor, but still would not heat. When magnetron was removed, I noticed a burnt spot on top which was an indication of a failure. After magnetron was replaced, microwave worked as expected. Replacing the magnetron was somewhat cumbersome in the GE Spacesaver as it has a plastic housing in which the magnetron must fit into. This made it difficult to install and align the new unit. With some effort it eventually went into place. Overall it was not a difficult job.

Reasonably easy to install
I have GE microwave mounted on the wall over the stove. The microwave weight is about 60lb, needed a second person to dismount it. Found instructional video on Youtube on magnetron replacement in a similar unit. Some details were different, it took time to figure out. Overall the job of magnetron replacement took just over one hour.
