Not completely square, but its on & working

Shipped quickly, thumbs up. This was my first time doing this repair, it was not difficult. It took me around 30 minutes to get the gasket on. I would note, however, that like a picture frame with one piece is not exactly cut for 90 degree angles, the black vinyl cross piece for one long side, (these pieces are pushed into the outer edge of the door panel to install the gasket -- the original had only vinyl not the harder pieces) was not the exact length it should have been, it was about 1/8" too long. It made the fit at the final corner (lower left/inside) a bit awry. If the excess length overlapped the vertical it affected the seal, too thick at that point. So I pushed it up against the vertical which stretched out the seal a bit. See first photo. The gasket itself seems correct size, the other corners and sides fit well. Other than this point the gasket is on and the door seals.

upper left, the other two looked basically like this one
poor fit on lower left

Does not seem to have a good seal.
December 03, 2019|Big m, Undisclosed

It installed fine, BUT does not seem to be tight enough. We are waiting now to see if the refrigerator quits running between cycles. It had been running continuously and were able to correct it with aluminum tape.

Not the same as the original part
June 03, 2019|dap27502, Apex, NC

We purchased our Kenmore refrigerator in 2002. The original gasket was no longer sealing properly, so we decided to replace it. When I keyed in the part number from the manual on the Sears website, I learned that the original part had been discontinued and a substitute part was being offered as a purportedly compatible replacement. The new part was clearly NOT identical to the old one. Installation looks easy on paper but proved to be time-consuming. Instructions require removing and re-installing the door. It took nearly an hour for both of us just to get the new gasket in place. (It kept wanting to work its way loose.) After all that, it still didn't fit perfectly. Initially, it appeared to seal OK but then every time we shut the fridge door the freezer door came unsealed. It's annoying to have to recheck the freezer door every time we get into the fridge. We're keeping a strip of duct tape on the freezer door hoping that the gasket will finally conform to the right shape so the door will STAY closed. At this point, replacing the old gasket appears to be a waste of time and money. Once an original part is no longer available, buying a so-called replacement part is a real gamble!
