You do need a breaker bar to get the anode loose and be careful not to pull your hot water heater out of place it moves very easy without a full take of water in it.

Anode rod was supposed to be an exact match to my water heater, yet it is only half as long as the original one. Easy to install, once you have removed the old rod (which is often very difficult to remove).
