How to fix your LG upright vacuum when the red dirt sensor light stays on constantly

When the dirt sensor lights stays red constantly, dirty sensor eyes or a failed dirt sensor control board could be causing the problem.

Unplug the vacuum cleaner and clean the sensor eyes using a soft, dry cloth. Don't use cleaners or liquids as they can help speed the recoating of the sensor eyes, making it necessary to clean them much sooner than normal.

If the dirt sensor lights stays red constantly after cleaning the sensor eyes, you may need to replace the dirt sensor control board because the board may not be detecting sensor eye dirt signals correctly.

How to replace the beater bar in your LG upright vacuum cleaner

  • Unplug the power cord to disconnect electrical power from the vacuum cleaner.
  • Turn the vacuum cleaner over so the bottom of the nozzle assembly is facing up.
  • Remove bottom plate mounting screws and pull off the bottom plate from the nozzle assembly.
  • Pull the beater bar up and disconnect the drive belt from the beater bar. Remove the beater bar from the nozzle assembly.
  • Position the new beater bar in the nozzle assembly and slide the drive belt onto the beater bar. Install the new beater bar in the nozzle assembly.
  • Position the bottom place on the nozzle assembly and reinstall the bottom plate mounting screws.
  • Plug the vacuum cleaner in and check beater bar operation. Adjust the drive belt if necessary.
