Stand Mixer: Why does my stand mixer run on low speed, but rotate slowly?
Bad wiring connections or a faulty speed control plate can cause the motor to run extremely slowly and not speed up even to the lowest rotation speed when you move the control lever to higher speed settings. If your mixer uses an electronic control board to control motor speed, a faulty board can prevent the motor from speeding up when you move the control lever to increase the speed.
If your mixer has a removable cover on the back end of the motor housing, then the mixer uses a speed control plate to control motor speed. Unplug the mixer and remove the back motor housing cover. Check the wire connections on the speed control plate and reconnect any loose wires. If the wiring connections are good, then you'll likely need to replace the speed control plate.
If your mixer doesn't have a removable back cover on the motor housing, then the mixer likely uses an electronic control board to control motor speed. Unplug the mixer and replace the electronic control board if the motor runs only on low speed.

Replace the stand mixer speed control plate
The speed control plate works with the switch lever, governor and the phase control board to control motor speed. When you move the switch lever to a speed, the lever positions the speed control plate at the proper distance from the governor to attain the desired speed. The phase control board applies the correct voltage to the drive motor to maintain mixer speed based on signals it receives from the governor. A damaged control plate won't help the governor and phase control board control the mixer speed. Replace the speed control plate if it-s damaged.
