Using the trouble shooting guide correctly diagnosed the problem. You really need the overlay with the controller. Took 15-20 min to install. We had a lightning strike close buy and it damaged the control panel had no displays. Problem solved.

One teensy problem

In spite of no instructions, this was easy to install, with one odd thing: Although the touch screen was quite firmly attached to the old one, making it seem like the screen should be part of the replacement control board, it's NOT! So it needed to be peeled off and re-stuck-- seems odd. But it works, so I'm happy.

Removal and installation is straightforward, you only need a nut driver to remove the sheet metal, a screwdriver to remove the board, and patience to remove the wiring harnesses. Take a picture before removing wiring harnesses. I recommend buying the overlay for $20, removing the old overlay is quite difficult. 3 stars for the MONTH that it took to get the part...and general disappointment that the first part only lasted 5 years. Confidence in Electrolux/Kenmore/Sears diminished.
