Original ice cube bin broke as things are made poorly. Nothing hard to to, just take out the old bin, wash the new one and set in place. This is a part that shouldn't need replacement.

fixing a broken one
The original bucket broke where the ice is separated by the claws so it comes out as cubes. This caused the the hidden area of the latching mechanism to fill with ice making getting the bucket out, very difficult. You cannot buy just the part that broke, even though the entire mechanism comes apart very simply. Instead you have to buy the entire thing at a pretty high cost. The price from Sears was the best I could find. Although I would still call it "pricey"

Perfect fit!
This new ice bin was a replacement for our damaged older ice bin. It was a perfect fit & installed easily. I carefully rinsed the bin in tepid water & mild soap without full emersion to spare the gears & cogs in the bottom. I l let the new bin dry thoroughly on a towel on the countertop overnight so that no water would freeze in a wrong spot on the gears. Works perfectly and now we have abundant crushed & whole ice.
