Should Have Done It Sooner
Been putting off ordering this, afraid it wouldn't fix my problem (fridge not making ice) and then I'd have wasted the money to buy it. So I've been living without an ice maker for at least a year. Finally closed my eyes and jumped (ordered it). Wish it didn't cost as much as it does, but it DID fix my problem and we have ice again! The change-out wasn't hard, but I had already gone through the exercise of removing the old one and putting it back in, so I had some familiarity. YouTube videos helped tremendously.

Seemingly refurbished parts instead of new
Boxed with soil inside at refurbishment site and was packed with a broken part - this did not happen during shipping. Wont buy again.

Unhappy
The one I received was broken and looked used. I sent it back and ordered another which has not been delivered. It's been weeks.

Replacement of the ice making unit
The part Installed easily. It did begin working. It does seem slightly slower in producing ice as the original. Very thankful that it works. God bless!

Kenmore Icemaker replacement
Icemaker was a good replacement for the one delivered with the refrigerator and went in easily. However, the ejector fingers came in broken in the undamaged box, causing me to fabricate a repair. This made a 15-minute operation into a 2-hour operation.

Somewhat Easy to Install
After looking at several cheaper ice makers I decided to go with a genuine Sears part. More expensive but this was supposed to fit with no wiring issues. Well, almost. I had had the ice maker repaired by Sears several years ago and unbeknownst to me they put in a new, different wiring harness on both the ice maker and the the freezer side (the wire connector) so the new ice maker wire would not plug in. There was no rounded end. I managed to jam them together but decided instead to take the wire harness off of the broken ice maker and put it on the new one. No splicing involved, just unwrapped the connection and plugged the old harness in. Now it mated with the freezer harness. Putting it back in and tucking the wires was a bit of a chore and it took me a while to figure out how the cover on the right went back on since it just dropped out when I removed the old one. Take the top freezer shelves out so you can see it from the back. Be careful when you take the old one out. I had a devil of a time disconnecting the wire plugs and it slipped and hit the floor breaking the bottom cover. This part does not come with the ice maker and they tell you to reuse the old one. I found a less expensive one online because Sears didn't have the part in stock. I looked at several YouTube videos but it seems they were rather vague about some steps. If Sears has a video watch it because no instructions come with the part. I had already replaced the pump motor because the water dispenser started leaking and I had hoped it would fix the ice making problem but, while the new pump stopped the leaking but didn't fix the ice making problem hence this repair. The new ice maker filled and started making ice after a while, be patient. I thought it was all for naught till I realized I had forgotten to turn the water line back on. It is now working fine. Just hope it lasts a while.
