Sears Home Services continues to expand and we’re adding new service technicians to keep up with expanding demand for appliance repair. To help service technician candidates prepare for a career as a Sears Tech, we’re developing content and a curriculum to help aspiring technicians learn about appliance repair and prove their expertise.

Here’s a sample of new, advanced content that we’ve created to help technicians understand how the ice maker in a common Frigidaire French door refrigerator works:

This advanced content may be difficult for many average DIY appliance repair enthusiasts to fully understand. It’s intended for technicians who have completed courses in basic electrical circuit training and other basic appliance repair courses.

If you’re a Sears PartsDirect DIY repair help fan and you’re able to understand this advanced technical content, then you would likely be a good candidate for our Sears Technician team. Apply now to be a Sears Technician if you’re interested in starting a rewarding career with Sears Home Services.

What does Sears Technical Training look like?

Prior to their arrival at a Sears training, all new hires are evaluated for electrical and appliance repair knowledge. We’re building a Sears Technical Institute training program for aspiring appliance repair technicians that will help them excel in these evaluations.

Sears Technician training starts with classroom learning that’s focused on a specific area — say, refrigeration or laundry. Also, some technicians train as generalists who can work on a wide range of appliances. Technicians in training aren’t just sitting in a classroom — they’re also practicing repairs on appliances from multiple manufacturers such as Kenmore, GE, Whirlpool, LG, Frigidaire and Samsung. We’ve placed designated lab time within the curriculum to improve the training experience.

Sears Technicians are also trained on repairs that some of the local repair people choose to avoid because it takes three to four hours to complete one repair. Sears Technicians are willing to take on difficult repairs. Our techs do whatever it takes to satisfy our customers.

How can I become a Sears Technician?

Our workforce is growing, because taking care of our employees is a priority. We currently have multiple openings for Sears Appliance Service Technicians in locations across the country.

If you have the skills to repair Washers, Dryers, Ovens, Dishwashers, Refrigerators or HVAC equipment, we’d like to talk with you. Apply today to begin your journey as an appliance repair expert.
