Not cleaning dishes. If your dishes are still dirty after you run the dishwashing cycle, first make sure you’re loading the dishes correctly.
Water that’s not hot enough won’t get dishes clean. Fill water temperature should be between 110 and 120 degrees. Adjust the temperature on your water heater as needed.
Poor cleaning could also be due to a mechanical problem with your dishwasher. A failed water inlet valve won’t allow enough water into the dishwasher tub to clean the dishes. Dishes won’t get clean if the detergent dispenser doesn’t open. Check your spray arms for clogs, jams or breaks and clear clogs or replace damaged spray arms that can prevent dishes from getting clean.
Won't drain. If water remains in the dishwasher after the cycle ends, check the kitchen sink drain to make sure it's not clogged. If there's no clog, try pressing the Cancel button; most Maytag dishwashers run the drain pump when the Cancel button is pressed.
If these tips don’t help, a broken drain pump, damaged check valve, clogged drain path or control failure (timer or electronic control) could be preventing the dishwasher from draining water.
Leaking. If water leaks from the bottom of the door, a damaged or stuck spray arm could be causing a wave inside the washer tub that is sloshing water over the front lip of the tub. Check the spray arms for damage and make sure they spin freely after loading the dishwasher. Other causes of leaks from around the front door include a loose or broken door hinge and a damaged door seal.
Leaks under the dishwasher can be caused by a leaking drain line, broken heating element water seal, leaking pump and motor assembly or leak in the water inlet assembly. Unplug the dishwasher and examine the bottom components to find and repair the leak.
Start by pushing in firmly on the front of the door near the top to make sure it’s shut tight. The dishwasher won’t start if the door isn’t latched completely.
Next, check the door switch using a multimeter; the cycle won’t start with a broken door switch. Replace the door switch if it's broken.
If the door switch is okay, a damaged control panel, failed user interface control or broken electronic control board can prevent the dishwasher from starting. If your dishwasher uses a mechanical timer control, a failed timer can prevent the cycle from starting.
