Lubrication of the Gasket is the key

Much easier than I had anticipated. Removing the old gaskets was harder than installing the new gaskets. After installing them they seemed "tight", hard to close. So, I lubricated the hinge side first. That helped loosen up the closing of the doors. Yet, it was still "tight" so I lubricated the door handle sides, that was the answer to them being closed easier. I would say that will keep them from tearing apart on the handle sides for as long as this frig will "live".

Removing and installing Kenmore right door gasket
June 20, 2020

I purchased the gasket to replace my original gasket which was tearing at the top. I found several videos on Youtube that showed the process of removing and replacing the gasket. Taking it off and putting the new one on was very easy. Only needed a flat blade screw driver. You need to be sure that you slide the gasket on the handle side of the door so that it fits into the groove at the top when you press in.

Gaskets not flush at top

These gaskets are poorly designed or manufactured in that the top corners are not flush and rub against each other causing them to fail at that point. this is the second time I have had to replace them and the new set fits no better.

I can tell from the design that this hasket will not last. It sticks out too much at the top. You have to close both of the french doors at the same time to get the refrigerator to close.
